COMPETITION RULES
Age Limit
The competition is open to candidates – male or female – of any nationality who were born after October 1, 1978 .
Application
All entrants should apply using the enclosed Application Form. Please enclose the following documents with your application:
a) a photocopy of your birth certificate
b) a short curriculum vitae: musical training (place and teacher), concert experience, critiques and letters of recommendation if available
c) program, which cannot be changed thereafter
d) two photographs
e) a bank slip showing that the Competition Fee has been paid into the Competition Account with the Dortmund Savings Bank (Sparkasse Dortmund)
f) the application form, correctly filled in Please send in the application form together with the aforementioned documents to the following address:

The direction of the competition will have the ultimate decision about admission and will send in this case the official invitation. The closing date for entries is: Thursday, June 30, 2011 and this date will not be extended. In deciding whether an entry is late or not the date of the postmark shall be considered as the date when the entry was received Entrants who have been accepted must inform the Secretariat immediately
if they are unable to take part in the Competition. In this case however, a refund of the Competition Fee is not possible for technical reasons.

Competitions
The Piano Competition consists of four separate public stages. The start will be Oktober 01, 2011:
First, second, third stage: Kammermusiksaal, Orchesterzentrum NRW, Brückstraße 47, 44135 Dortmund
Final with orchestra: Konzerthaus Dortmund, Entrants who arrive late or who are not in possession of their Competitor’s confirmation cannot expect to be allowed to perform. Entrants shall act in alphabetical order, this year the competition will begin with the letter “B”. All pieces are to be played by memory, repetitions can be played
The Jury
The jury will be composed by pianists of international reputation. The judgement will be made according to international rules. After each round the members of the panel shall be available to discuss the performance with unsuccessful entrants. The jury shall award the prizes and additional and special premiums. prize winners´concert and prize-giving The Final Concert with Prize-Giving will take place on Monday, October 10, 2011, in the Orchesterzentrum NRW.

Accomondation
The Competition Committee of the Dortmund International Schubert Competition has a limited number of private rooms available, in which competitors may practice free of charge. The entrants can use a free traffic between the accomodation and the place of competition. Travel costs (both ways) must be borne by the competitors themselves.
Miscellaneaus
Prize-Winners are obligated in their future careers not to indicate any awards other than those actually given to them. The Competition Organizers reserve the right to put right any misrepresentations by the press and if necessary to resort to legal means to do this. The Competition rules will be printed in four languages (german, english, french and russian). In cases of doubt the german version shall be binding. The Competition Organizers have the right, without giving any fee to the competitors or their assign.

offer it the press]
b) to make and sell records, cd’s, tapes, videos etc. from all competitions completely or in cuttings without print-limit or to assign the production and sell to other people.
Possibilities for practicing are available during the competition period in the Orchesterzentrum NRW, Brückstraße 47, 44135 Dortmund.
